HISD Board Hearing Meeting

HOW TO SPEAK AT A BOARD MEETING: 

Individuals must register themselves in advance to speak at School Board meetings. Registration opens at least three (3) business days before the scheduled date of the meeting. To confirm a meeting date, visit https://HoustonISD.Legistar.com/Calendar.aspx.

The deadline for speaker registration and submission of supporting materials (handouts) is noon the day before the posted meeting. Anyone needing assistance with this process should contact Board Services BEFORE this deadline and a staff member will provide guidance in registering online.

ALL handouts must be emailed to BoardServices@HoustonISD.org or delivered to the Board Services Department at the Hattie Mae White Educational Support Center, 4400 West 18th Street, Houston 77092.

Regular and Special Board Meetings

To comment on a specific agenda item, access the relevant meeting agenda at this link . Find the date of the meeting you wish to attend and click on eComment to register to speak for your selected agenda item(s). 

Please note, you will need to create an eComment account in order to register to speak. For more guidance on completing this process, please click on the “E-Comment Speaker Registration Instructions” (Spanish/Español).

Registered speakers will receive an automated confirmation email confirming their registration and providing instructions to request to speak via Zoom if they wish to do so, and/or if they are a public official, HISD parent, or HISD student and wish to be prioritized to speak.

The confirmation email will come from "noreply=houstonisd.granicusideas.com" and may be in your junk folder.  If a speaker does not receive the automated confirmation email, they should notify Board Services at BoardServices@HoustonISD.org before noon the day before the meeting.

The Zoom request must be received by 2 p.m. the day before the meeting. The speaker’s Zoom identification must match the full first and last name under which they registered or they will not be allowed to speak. Speakers with disabilities are asked to email Board Services to specify any accommodations they may need.

Other Meetings

Committees or groups may hold other meetings which include School Board members but not as a quorum. These include the Public Facility Corporation (PFC) and the School Safety and Security Committee (SSSC). 

To comment on a specific agenda item for a PFC or SSSC meeting, email BoardServices@HoustonISD.org after a meeting notice is posted and by noon the day before the meeting. Meeting notices may be found under the "Board Meeting Records" tab.
