🥇 2022 TEA RATING 🥇

Ranked 9th Best HISD elementary school

Top Houston ISD Elementary Schools by STAAR “Masters” Scores. Field is #9! Read the article here.

This ranking looks specifically at the percentage of a school’s students who scored in the highest, “Masters Grade Level” performance category.

Because “Masters Grade Level” represents about the top 1/5 of public school students in Texas, any school where more than 20% of students are scoring above this level is Exceptional by definition.

"Since the STAAR is a peer-normed test in which only about 20% of students will earn the “Masters” designation, any school on this list with higher than 20% is performing better than average.

As such, there are at least 40 (23%) Houston ISD elementary schools that are outperforming the Texas state average."

Field designated a Platinum Certified - Family Friendly School for 2022-23!

We are thrilled to see our Field students, teachers and administrators awarded with a 96 A grade from TEA!!!

School Culture and Climate Strengths

Based on feedback from teachers during PLC, parent focus groups, and feedback from the PTO:

  • Field has established a culture that promotes collaboration and high student achievement.
  • Teachers at Field are highly skilled, have been at Field for several years, and have the autonomy to make educational decisions out of the best interest of their students. As a result, Field has performed well on STAAR and has a culture of holding students and teachers to high expectations.
  • With the most recent leadership change, the community has seen an increase of their voice being heard and valued. Through feedback of focus groups and teacher input, the systems put in place are for the benefit of students, are explicit, and are effective.
  • Field has a culture of having an approachable, communicative, and solution-focused administration team. As a result, approaches to classroom management and behavior intervention are supported with solutions and focused on building replacement behaviors.
  • Based off Possip data, between 60-66% of families on the survey were satisfied with Field at the middle of the year last year. This percentage increased to over 75% at the end of the school year and we anticipate a higher percentage during the first possip survey for the 23-24 SY.

Parent and Community Engagement Strengths

  • The principal posts a weekly community message on class dojo that highlights celebrations, provides updates on the school, and provides important upcoming events.
  • With 460 students enrolled at the school, these posts regularly have 300+ parents viewing and liking the post.
  • Additionally, through PTO meetings and focused group sessions, parents have provided positive feedback on the increased communication compared to previous years.
  • The principal attends every PTO meeting to provide an update and the principal meets with the PTO president every two weeks to review the upcoming calendar of events and new updates.
  • The school has aligned with the PTO regarding social media communication: the school updates information on the school website and through Class Dojo and the PTO will then update Field social media accounts on Facebook and Instagram.
